Charles Talks about his Love of the Game
Krauthammer and Baseball
Bret Baier and Fox News present a documentary about Charles' love for baseball and the Nationals
Special Report (Fox News), October 22, 2019
"I go for relief, for the fun, for the craft"
Watch the full length documentary on Fox Nation:
"On weeknights I’m normally at Nationals Park, it being exactly seven minutes from Fox News’s Washington studios, where my workday ends at 7. If the winds are fair and the Third Street Tunnel is clear, I can get to my seat by the bottom of the first, in time to see Bryce Harper’s first at-bat."

CHARLES' FRIENDS HONOR HIS LOVE OF THE GAME
"The Nationals didn’t do much winning in those early years, but it didn’t matter; Krauthammer couldn’t quit them. He managed to find joy in the losing, and described Nationals Park, which opened in 2008, as his 'own private paradise'."
"As a birthday present he invited me to join him at a Washington Nationals game at which, to my astonishment, the giant scoreboard at one point lit up with 'Happy Birthday, Irwin.' That alone would not have returned me to the ranks of baseball fans. It was Charles’ enormous knowledge of the game, his pleasure in sharing that knowledge with me, and the grace with which he received fans who greeted him, often pressing little notes on policy issues on him, which he passed to me to hold on to until he dropped me off at home after the game."
"I don’t know how to describe it to non-baseball fans. But there’s a way of communicating the pleasures of the action unfolding on the field with just a smile and a nod. I’ve only been able to do this in my life with my dearly departed father and a few close friends. And Charles."
